Pat Barry Braces for UFC 161 Clash Against Shawn Jordan
COMMENTARY | MMA fan favorite Pat “HD” Barry will, once again, try to win consecutive fights inside the Octagon for the first time in his mixed martial arts career when he kicks off the UFC 161 main card against Shawn “The Savage” Jordan.
The event is set for June 15, at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.
As far as Barry (8-5-0, 6 KOs) is concerned, Jordan (14-4-0, 10 KOs) has a lot to be worried about heading into their UFC 161 encounter.
“Everybody’s been kicked hard, everybody’s been punched hard, everybody’s got a story about the one time that they were hit so hard,” Barry said on ‘Countdown to UFC 161.’ “I hit different. I don’t hit hard, I hit scary.”
At times during his UFC career, Barry has shown promising signs, but he seems to have a hard time fighting to his true potential on a consistent basis.
Pat’s UFC 115 bout against Pride FC legend Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović is a perfect example of the former kickboxer’s focus costing him a win.
Barry got off to a solid start against Cro Cop, surprisingly, proving to be the better striker. He dominated their encounter until he started playing around during the third round, seemingly taking it easy on the Croatian, who he admitted was one of his heroes coming up.
