Judo Institute

Javier P. Garcia discovered the art of Judo at the early age of 7. He began his competitive career only one short year later when he entered his first tournament The Texas Judo Junior State Championships. His love for the competitive side of Judo grew, he continued to compete at the local, state, and national level. At the peak of Javier’s Competitive Judo career he ranked among the Top 5 in the nation 70kg division,. He went on to compete Internationally representing the State of Texas and Team USA in Quito, Ecuador 70kg Division.

After his successful Competitive Judo career Javier found that his true passion was to share his knowledge of Judo. At age 19 Javier began his coaching career. Javier has coached many state, national, and Junior Olympic Champions.

Javier received his 1st Degree Black Belt (Shodan) from Sensei Phil Porter at the National Judo Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1993. He received his 2nd Degree Black Belt (Nidan) from Sensei Phil Porter in 1995 at the Junior Nationals in Austin, Texas. Javier received his 3rd Degree Black Belt (Sandan) from Sensei Louis Lopez in 2006. Javier trained with one of the Top Kata Instructors in the World. He is certified in Nage-No-Kata, Katame-No-Kata, and Goshin-Jutsu-No-Kata.

Javier is a Certified USA JUDO National Coach, Certified USA JUDO National and Texas State Recognized School, Certified USJA Coach, and Certified USJA Kata B-Level.
